Atlanta Terminal Station
Terminal Station opened its doors to the public in May 1905, Terminal Station served the Atlanta & West Point Route, Central of Georgia, and Southern Railway. It was closed in June 1970 and was demolished in 1972.
The station and train shed were built for the Atlanta Terminal Company at a cost of $1.6 million. The main architect for this project was P. Thornton Marye.
The train shed was torn down in 1925. At this time, the main terminal building was also altered by the removal of the upper sections of its twin towers.
Next to Terminal Station, at 99 Spring Street, was Southern Railway’s Atlanta office building (still standing) but no longer used by Norfolk Southern as they moved the offices into the mid town area.
The Richard B. Russell Federal Building now stands on the site of the former Terminal Station.

I am researching a book on large North American passenger stations. I have been unable to find a track plan for Terminal Station Atlanta. Does anyone know how many passenger tracks at platforms this station had? Also, does anyone have any photos or a floor plan of the interior? I am finding lots of exterior shots of the building but no interiors whatever, and the platform area remains a big mystery. I would appreciate any offer of help. Thank you.
