Seaboard Coast Line

The Seaboard Coast Line was formed in 1967 by the merger of rival railroads Seaboard Airline and Atlantic Coast Line. The railroads locomotives featured a black with yellow stripes paint scheme that was used by the late ACL. The railroad was merged in 1983 with the L&N, Clinchfield and Georgia group to form Seaboard System which would eventually merge with Chessie to form CSX.

Normally the SCL units where painted in the black as seen in all the other photos above. When the SCL acquired the ACL and the SAL, some of the former SAL units where given a patch job. They had the SAL lettering removed and the SCL letting applied and would be painted into the SCL black at a later date.
